About the instructors: Dikla Kafka & Lara Ederer

Dikla Kafka

I started practicing yoga in 2003 after many years of practicing martial arts. I wanted to find something softer but still challenging that would support my new lifestyle and career. I stepped into my first yoga class and fell in love immediately! Over the years I practiced many styles of yoga, including Ashtanga, Iyengar and Sivananda.

My first TT was Ashtanga, back in Tel Aviv, Israel, right after my first pregnancy. I practiced the full primary series during my second pregnancy. Here in the US I have completed 200h Hatha yoga TT with HYI, 200h Vinyasa TT with Les Leventhal – right here at Bala Yoga! – 95h TT certification in Yin with Ali Valdez, and 500h advanced studies with Sattva Yoga.

I teach Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, as well as Yoga Philosophy, and the thing I love the most is challenging students and reminding them how strong they are. I encourage students to come to the mat every day! Even if its just for a few minutes, for 3 of their favorite poses, or a couple of sun salutes. I strongly believe that daily practice is important and want to encourage everyone to explore the discipline of self-practice.

Lara EdererLara was introduced to yoga in 2002 by a newly certified friend who needed practice students. Over the next several years she ventured in and out of the practice as well as different styles until she found her “home” in Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions. In 2012 she completed her 200 Hour with Be Luminous with a primary focus in Power Vinyasa. Her teaching style is playful and sprinkled with humor yet it is evident that she is influenced by deep rooted traditions such as chanting, Pranayama, and Sanskrit. Her greatest influences are Tiffany Cruickshank, Amy Ippoliti, Sri Dharma Mittra, and Troy Lucero. Lara is also a co-founder of Yogalab Northwest, a grass roots collaboration that hosts world class teachers in the Seattle area as a way to celebrate the strong local yoga community. She has had the privilege of hosting and learning from Mittra, Ippoliti, Cruickshank, Kino Macgregor, Jason Crandell, and has several more scheduled events on the horizon. Lara is currently enrolled in her 500 hour training with Tiffany Cruickshank; when she’s off the mat she enjoys time with her husband Mark and son Liam.
