About the instructor:  Tara Bernstein

photo of TaraWhile teaching and choreographing modern dance in New York and Seattle, Tara began the study of yoga.  Dancers often suffer injuries from being over zealous in their art. Yoga helped her discover healing and mindfulness and a healthy life without pain.  An Intermediate Junior 1 certified teacher, Tara discovered Iyengar Yoga in 2001 and initially became a certified teacher in 2009.

Tara presently studies yoga with Pat Musburger and Felicity Green. She has attended two Iyengar Yoga Teachers’ Conventions with Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar:  2007 “The Journey from Body To Bliss” and 2010 “Reflections” on understanding yoga therapy.  Her travels have taken her to India to study with Rajiv and Swati Chanchani, two of Mr. Iyengar’s most advanced teachers.

Tara also teaches classes at the University Family YMCA and Taj Yoga in Ballard.  At Tree House Tara is focused on introducing beginning yoga students to the fundamentals of yoga asana.  Her back care class calls on her deep personal practice.  She is known for her patience and kindness as well as her insistence on safety and proper alignment during class.
