This introduction to meditation series is open to everyone. Whether you are brand new or seeking to connect through subtle practice, you are welcome here. Our four weeks together will explore the seated posture – āsana – through several pathways for connecting to the Sacred Self.

Learning to meditate and developing a regular home practice is very supportive of your well-being and those whose lives you touch. Meditating consistently with a group of dedicated practitioners strengthens our ability to make progress on our interior journey and supports our world.

The class group will meet one evening a week for four weeks. During each gathering, we’ll explore a variety of prompts and guided meditations. Suggested personal explorations will be provided for the days between sessions. You will have email access to the teacher for the month of this series to ask any course-related questions.

  • Week 1 – Steadying the Seat
  • Week 2 – Homing to the Heart
  • Week 3 – Sitting with the Senses
  • Week 4 – Loving the Light in All

About the instructor: Lara Sanderson

Lara-SandersonI began studying yoga over 25 years ago after training to dance professionally. My first Hatha class was with Jo Leffingwell, where I landed intimately within the very alive, miraculous interior landscape of my body. Since then, I’ve been inspired by many advanced female practitioners, including Denise Benitez and other teachers and students in the Seattle Yoga Arts community.

In 2011, I began to study meditation full-time, inspired by Sally Kempton, a former Vedic Swami from my father Marty’s yogic lineage. I am an avid explorer of habits that facilitate deeper meditative awareness and support the physical body in partnering with its awakened energy. My personal sadhana draws from Iyengar, Anusara, Siddha Yoga, dance, Reiki, and qi gong. I love gardening, cooking, writing, art and animals, and am a certified level III Reiki practitioner.

It is a joy to share in service with others discovering and following their own unique spiritual path. My wish for the world is that everyone develops the inherent power that resides within. When individuals master peace, so too, will our communities.
