The Wilderness Skills Certificate is designed to prepare students for a wide range of personal or professional opportunities in recreation, outdoor leadership and education. Students may complete the Wilderness Skills Certificate Program as part of an AA transfer degree in preparation for a four year BA Recreational Leadership Degree, Washington State Physical Education Teaching Certificate, and also working immediately in the outdoor recreational field. Students interested in developing a life-long wellness plan that includes outdoor adventure activities may also enroll in the program to satisfy elective class options needed for an Associate Degree. The 19 credit certification program may be completed part time in as little as six months while the Associate in Arts and Sciences (DTA) Transfer Degree may be completed in two years. Students may elect to complete the Wilderness Certificate as a minor area of study in fulfillment of elective requirements.
