Join us at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers for a weekend with Baxter Bell, MD, co-author of the book “Yoga for Healthy Aging” and former 8 Limbs Teacher Training Director Melina Meza to share their insights on yoga and aging with our community (we are all getting a bit older each day!). The sessions this visit will be new and unique, for those who joined them in 2018.

As a yoga teacher, physician and acupuncturist, Baxter has accumulated a vast repertoire of wisdom and will share some of the scientific background that explains how and why yoga works to foster healthy aging in a way that is fun, accessible and doable for the long run. He will lead you through a series of practices designed so you can take home what you learn and implement it with ease. Melina, a senior yoga teacher and Ayurvedic educator and nutritionist, weaves in healthy living. Baxter’s expertise in yoga therapeutics complemented by Melina’s mastery of holistic nutrition and Ayurveda will leave you knowing what it takes to create a practice for healthy aging.

This workshop will provide instructions on maintaining your physical, mental, and emotional health as you age. The main focus of the course is on preventative strategies, covering:

Strength: some new ideas around building and maintaining strength
Inflammation: what it is, how it impacts aging, and how yoga helps
Immune Health and Yoga
Stress Management: the newest insights in changing “mindset” and stress
Ayurveda for healthy living in modern times

Note: This workshop is designed for relatively healthy, relatively physically able participants of any age. It will not include instructions for or information about yoga for older adults who cannot stand unaided and need to practice in chairs. It also will not include specific information about using yoga as therapy for medical conditions, although there will be a bit of general background on that subject.

Space in this workshop is limited and filled well in advance in 2018. Register early to ensure your space.

Dates: April 24-26, 2020

Cost: $265 through February 22, $295 after

Location: Live Streamed

Cancellation Policy: Refunds of 90% up to five days prior to workshop. No refunds allowable after that

Melina Meza

Melina has been exploring the art and science of yoga and nutrition for almost twenty-five years. She combines her knowledge of Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, whole foods nutrition, and healthy lifestyle promotion into a unique style called Seasonal Vinyasa. Melina’s Seasonal Vinyasa Yoga classes emphasize the teachings of the yogis—that there is no separation between humans and nature, and we are all one. In addition to asana practice, her classes include insights on physical health and nutrition as well as how to inspire self-knowledge that allows for the conscious adjustment of day-to-day choices.
