Iyengar yoga offers many poses and sequences that help relieve and over time further prevent lower back discomfort. It differs from most other yoga systems in allowing the teacher to tailor poses with specific props that can help to relieve compression and release overnight muscles. In this workshop you will learn several poses and practices that are often very helpful in releasing your back.

In future workshops we will explore other ways Iyenar Yoga can help your back become healthier. This workshop is not for those with acute and severe lower back issues which are best addressed in a private session with Richard.

Richard Schachtel is one of the most experienced yoga teachers in the northwest. He has trained in Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics for many years. He teaches a gentle yoga class on Friday nights that includes many of these practices. This is one of 7 workshops Richard is giving this fall on successive Saturdays that can help you go deeper into yoga practice and to learn more of the fine points and intricacies of practice. The fee for this workshop is $40 but sign up by Monday Sept 8th 10pm PST and pay only $30.
