Harnessing the Power of Yoga to transform Health Care Weekend Workshop
Jul 13, 2018 - Jul 15, 2018| $350
Join Kristine Kaoverii Weber, the founder of Subtle® Yoga, for a visionary weekend exploring the potential of yoga to transform health care. We will examine the health care crisis and look at how yoga can play an instrumental role in improving outcomes, as well as how yoga can positively shift the client experience of care and reduce health care costs. You will work on your own strategy for connecting with local health care professionals and be able to offer compelling evidence that appropriate yoga can enhance the quality of health care services.
In recent years, yoga has gained ground as an increasingly respected, research-based modality for the treatment of various disorders – particularly mental health challenges and chronic pain. For example, last year the American College of Physicians guidelines gave yoga the grade “strong recommendation” in the management of chronic low back pain. Yoga is not only valuable in the treatment of specific conditions, it can also be applied across the Institute of Medicine’s spectrum of care: treatment, prevention, aftercare/recovery, and health promotion.
In this workshop Kristine will unpack the theory and practices of yoga (ethics, postures, breathing practices and meditation) in order to broaden and deepen participants’ understanding of the application of yoga from individuals to populations and across the spectrum of care. Using the example of addiction recovery, Kristine will present appropriate practice that may strengthen the nervous system, build resilience, improve chronic pain, and leverage client’s spiritual assets.
Each session will include lecture, discussion and a yoga practice. Class outlines will be provided. Additionally, participants may opt to electronically receive pdfs of Kristine’s ebook, Yoga for Population Health and two of her articles “Yoga Therapy: Meeting the Needs of the Triple Aim” and “The Yamas and NIyamas in Population Health,” published in the International Association of Yoga Therapist’s publication Yoga Therapy in Practice.
