The Intro to Yoga Series are a great place to start your practice. At 8 Limbs we select our most senior and experienced instructors to provide what can be the introduction to a lifelong practice. Rest assured that your instructor will be welcoming, accommodating, and foster a non-competitive and safe atmosphere in class. These six-week sessions are designed for anyone new to hatha yoga or continuing students interested in reconnecting to the fundamentals of a physical yoga practice, including basic yoga postures and breathing practices.

This series will prepare students for the ongoing Level I classes offered at 8 Limbs. Some will be ready to move on after one session, others choose to repeat the Intro Series multiple times before moving on. We offer ongoing Intro Series options at each of our studios.

To register, call or visit the studio you wish to attend. Contact information is located at the bottom of this page. Series are offered by preregistration only and often fill. Register early to assure your space. Please send a completed release form with payment (if paying over the phone you may bring it to your first class).

Make Up Policy: You may make up one class per session up to two weeks after the end of your series.

About the Teacher: Alex Baker

Alex Baker Yoga Teacher

What to expect in Alex’s classes: Alex creates a supportive and encouraging environment in each and every one of her classes. Her students learn how to move their body with greater awareness, cultivating stability while increasing strength and flexibility. In addition to the physical (asana) practice Alex teaches her students how to connect deeper to their breath through pranayamas (breathing techniques) and visualizations, promoting a relaxed mind while decreasing stress.  During her classes she enjoys weaving together insights from the Yoga Sutras as well as information from the science of Ayurvedic Medicine. Alex has found that these ancient teachings are means to help practitioners function optimally and holistically within the seasonal cycles.

Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Iyengar Yoga, ViniYoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Ayurveda
