Our meetings will be held Live Online through Phinney Ridge Yoga’s Zoom Classroom. The live format offers a supportive community from the comfort of home, and opportunities to ask questions.
Every class will also be recorded and available to students for the duration of the 4-week series. This will allow you to join at your own pace even if you are not able to attend on Tuesday evenings! We also invite you to revisit the recording as many times as you would like during the month of your series.
Each class will begin with about 15 minutes of discussion on the science of Yoga Nidra. We will then transition into a gentle guided yoga practice to release tension from the day and to prepare the body and mind for deep relaxation. Each session will end with a long 30-minute guided Yoga Nidra Practice. Read below to learn more about Yoga Nidra …
What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga Nidra is a gentle form of meditation that can take place resting on one’s back, sitting in a chair, or even through slow paced movement.
Through visualization and guided relaxation, an experienced Yoga Nidra facilitator will support you in releasing layers of habitual tension in the body and mind. This process of accessing deeper layers of relaxation allows a person to access a state of awareness and realm of possibility that lies beyond habitual physical, emotional and/or belief patterns, clearing space for a new and more resilient way of being.
Rooted in the Vedas, Yoga Nidra has been practiced throughout the world for over 1,000 years. Current research has found that a regular practice can effectively support things like:
– Resiliency and moving through creative blocks
– Pain management
– Emotional wellness
– Deeper and more meaningful connections in life
– Better sleep
