For decades people have relaxed and meditated to soothing sounds, including recordings of waves lapping, desktop waterfalls and wind chimes. Research and experimentation have enhanced and honed sound therapy to be an effective method of healing. Also known as vibrational medicine, the practice employs the vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls — to go beyond relaxation and stimulate healing. This caring evening begins with gentle and restorative yoga poses led by meditation specialist, Brenda. These long-held poses allow the body to return to pre-stress levels by balancing hormones, relieving tensions, and reducing the heart rate. During the poses, and an extended Savasana, Michelle guides you through a sound journey using crystal singing bowls and chimes, supporting the body and mind to restore and heal. The session closes with a quiet guided meditation.

About the instructor: Michelle Befus

Michelle BefusMy passion for yoga and teaching is evident in the lighthearted, enthusiastic approach I strive to bring to every class. Combining alignment instruction with vinyasa (flow) transitions, my classes focus on presence, awareness and a strong attention to detail. I create a down to earth, non-intimidating environment students, using the physical body as a vehicle to draw attention to the present moment. As an educator of yoga, I am committed to teaching mindful movement, breath awareness and the practice of accessing ease in mind and body everyday.

Off the mat, I’m inspired by the beauty of nature. The close proximity of both the mountains and the water is what I love most about living in the Pacific Northwest. In my free time, you will find me enjoying my favorite outdoor activities, which include rock climbing and stand-up paddleboarding.

I received my 500 hour teaching certification at Pacific Yoga with Theresa Elliott and Kathryn Payne. I continue learning from my mentors today and am passionate about carrying on the traditional values of yoga that my teachers embody. Besides group and private classes, I offer workshops, retreats and continuing education across the Pacific Northwest.
