Yogamaze Weekend Immersion Program in Seattle

May 16, 2014 - May 18, 2014

| $280

Event Navigation

These programs are for dedicated students who want to explore postures in a meaningful, refined, methodical way and learn practical strategies for building strength, flexibility and focus. We spend time and attention helping you achieve your personal goals in your physical practice-whether those goals are to approach more intermediate and advanced postures safely, or to deepen clarity and discipline in basic postures. You will leave with a deeper more expansive practice, and know how best to grow in the context of your own limits and boundaries. Morning asana sessions tend to be upbeat, with an emphasis on standing postures, back bends, arm balances and vinyasa. We turn inward as the sun wanes to forward bends, inversions and restorative postures. At lunch or break times you explore the city and all of its diversity of food and culture. Because of the progressive nature of longer practice sessions with specific focal points, attendance at all sessions is suggested. In special cases, partial attendance may be possible.

Whole weekend price including special teachers/dedicated students session: $280
Weekend price without special teacher session: $235

Friday, May 16 2:00-5:00 pm Strategies for Success: Art of Sequencing
For dedicated students and teachers $95
This interactive lecture and exercise based session will take your sequencing (of your classes and your practice) to new levels of creativity and efficacy with a focus on various issues you encounter in your practice including injuries and limitations and how to work with with them in your yoga practice. Bring a notebook, a copy of Light on Yoga (if you own one), your questions, a digital camera, and a yoga mat.

Friday, May 16 6:00-8:30 pm Ignite Your Heart
All Levels $65
The much-loved image of Hanuman opening his heart inspires this practice of vinyasa, breath, standing poses and backbends. Bring your openhearted courage and we will individually and collectively ignite the fire of the heart to incinerate the negativities and dross that hold us back from the inviolate self.

Saturday, May 17 12:00-2:30 pm Fear and Fearlessness (Backbends)
Intermediate/Advanced $65
Walk YOUR path with courage. We will practice openhearted courage into the deep potency of backbends. Bring your ordinary self. Bring your extraordinary self: “Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay…small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? That’s because I am afraid and he gives me courage.” -Gandalf, speaking to Galadriel.

Saturday, May 17 4:00-6:30 pm Seat of the Yogi
All Levels $65
Forward bends, hip openers, twists and inversions conspire to bring you deeply into your seat. This class will include instruction and practice in mantra, meditation and pranayama.

Sunday, May 18 10:00 am-1:30 pm Step Into the Flow of Grace
Intermediate/Advanced $65
This session will build strength and opening in steady and creative vinyasa sequencing, standing poses, backbends and hand balancings from all three syllabi. Be prepared to play hard!
