Description

Established, reputable Capitol Hill yoga studio seeks part-time Studio Manager. We are a local small business looking for someone with outstanding customer service skills, exceptional organization, and a highly detail-oriented nature. Our new Studio Manager can hold a beautiful space and keep it humming with vibrancy, warmth, and visual serenity. A solid work ethic and a strong desire to engage with our vibrant community of clients and staff are a must!

Applicants must function with ease both independently and on a team, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities, and stellar customer service aptitude. Additionally, applicants should have expertise in G Suite & Microsoft Office, experience using MindBody Online (or similar platform), familiarity with web-based programs in general, and be comfortable learning new technologies. Some prior experience working in Human Resources-related field(s) is a plus, but not critical.


General Responsibilities

  • Customer Service

    • Welcome and check in clients; process client payments; handle technical issues clients encounter with website, class reservation system, payment issues, etc

    • Assist clients with purchasing decisions and advise them on classes, packages, and/or teachers that are best suited to their preferences/goals/schedule

    • Forward relevant emails/questions to appropriate staff members

    • Serve as point of contact for outside vendors and services

  • Work-Study Program Management

    • Reception team supervisor; hire, train, and direct workload of reception staff (10-15 volunteers)

    • Coordinate other miscellaneous work-study/trade relationships

    • Coordinate ambassadors for guest teachers

  • Facility Management

    • Maintain a clean, organized, elegant, welcoming, safe, and functional studio space

    • Monitor and order studio and office supplies

    • Determine need for improvements within existing systems and determine satisfaction with current vendors (may include researching and evaluating new vendors)

    • Provide technical support for office computer and printer, or serve as point person for initiating research into issues with outside help-desk sources, as needed

    • Coordinate, hire, schedule, and/or perform light maintenance work, as needed

  • Studio Communications

    • Manage and respond to the majority of incoming studio email correspondence; forward/direct relevant emails when needed

    • Respond to phone inquiries/voicemail

    • Print event flyers (provided by designer) to display in studio

    • Create, print, and post miscellaneous notes and/or signage for in studio posting, as needed

  • Studio Scheduling

    • Manage/maintain MindBody, our online reservation/purchasing system (staff logins/access, class descriptions/scheduling, setup pricing options)

    • Serve as primary holder of studio’s master calendar (Google Calendar)

    • Coordinate and attend regular meetings with teachers and/or management team

    • Schedule and coordinate quarterly sub teacher auditions

  • Rental Program Coordination

    • Field rental inquiries

    • Schedule and receive rent payments from monthly and one-time renters

    • Ensure renters are properly trained in opening/closing procedure

  • On-board new teachers occasionally, as needed


Qualifications

  • Fluent in the concepts and practices of yoga and mindfulness, with an experiential understanding of and passion for the realm of mind-body-spirit.

  • Skilled and keenly interested in holding space for health and wellness, and an intrinsic understanding that supporting the individual supports our greater community-at-large

  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills: ability to handle busy/stressful situations in a calm, composed manner. Ability to assess a situation and adjust approach to fit.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for all types of interactions.

  • Highly organized; possess a high degree of attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to provide clear written instructions/documentation.

  • Strong initiative, follow-up, and priority setting skills – including ability to use good judgment and set boundaries. Ability to think ahead and plan for contingencies.

  • Team player; works well in collaboration with others

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

  • Strong working expertise with G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiarity with MindBody Online strongly preferred, but we will train the right candidate.

  • 3+ years solid experience in administrative support and customer service


Hours

We have non-traditional hours and applicants must be able to accommodate our schedule. This role is approximately 20-22 hours per week, 18 of which are on-site.

  • Fixed on-site shifts are Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays 3:00-7:30pm, and Wednesdays 9:00am-1:30pm. Additional on-site hours may be sometimes necessary.

  • Our new hire may choose to work additional hours from home, or on-site as needed where it works for the studio schedule.


Pay/status

Hourly employee, pay rate DOE.
