Live Be Yoga Event – Saturday July 30, 2016

Taylor Stuht and Tarah O’Sullivan, coordinators of the Live Be Yoga Tour.

This past Saturday I attended the LIVE-BE-YOGA Tour Event at Shakti Yoga East Bellevue. It is a six-month cross-country tour hosted by Yoga Journal, in partnership with Gaia, with the purpose of documenting yoga in America. The goal is to find standout yoga teachers and fellow passionate yogis in order to gather stories on the impact of yoga on individual lives and communities on and off the mat. The tour is lead by the two lovely-souled ambassadors Taylor O’Sullivan and Tarah Stuht.

The event began with gathering community as yogis trickled in, each lying mats side by side. Then commenced 60-minutes of powerful Vinyasa lead by studio owner Lisa Black and fellow Shakti teacher Zak Endicott. The theme of the class was Community and Togetherness. As we moved in our bodies, we were invited to connect with our neighbors throughout class. We were encouraged to burst the bubble of solitude that we wrap ourselves in and embrace each other as one in the same. I felt Lisa’s words landing not only in my heart, but also in those around me. Throughout our flow, Zak moved through the room offering empowerment and integral hands-on assists.

The class concluded with the communal chant of ‘OM’, and it was so potent and connected that there was no doubt that the intention for this practice hit the mark. After class, many yogis stayed and connected further with one another. Each attendee left with a goodie bag of sponsored products, such as Camelback water bottle, Lorissa’s Kitchen Jerky, Silk coupons, Babo Botanicals sunscreen, Arnicare Gel, and Mega Food Turmeric Supplements. Most importantly, each person left with a newfound sense of community. This was a great way to spend a Saturday in Seattle!
