2020 has proved to us that as a society we need to educate ourselves about racism & social justice more than ever. This first step will not only help us understand what racism is and why it is happening, but it will also teach us ways to fight this phenomenon & technics to support the black folks in our society. Yoga teachers & studios all around the US have joined the fight & started offering yoga programs to help educate the yoga community. We invite you to discover the anti-racism & social justice yoga programs offered in the Seattle area.

About This Course: This series is an introduction to racism and whiteness, with an emphasis on integrating the history and current context of systemic racism in the US with relational, emotion, and somatic practices to actually digest the material and allow ourselves to be transformed by it. We are dedicated to creating an anti-racist culture of connectedness and solidarity among white identified folks, rather than one of judgment and shame.
The 6-week series format will allow time to digest and inquire in a supportive but challenging environment.
The curriculum of this series is designed primarily for people who identify as white to do the important work of waking up to racism in ourselves and the world– i.e. it is intended to be a white caucus space as one very small part of the larger social justice movement spaces that are BIPOC centered. If any BIPOC folks are interested in joining (at no charge), please be in touch at the email below.

About This Course: Skill in Action is a workshop designed to explore systems of power and oppression, the intersection of social justice and yoga, external and internalized patterns of oppression, power and privilege, and how we can respond to the current cultural and political challenges through practices of self-study, movement, pranayama, contemplation and collective action. Throughout our time together we will practice asana (postures), meditation, mindfulness, pranayama (breathing), and mantra work to sharpen our goals and visions for our work to change the world.
