On Thursday, September 22, 2016, Street Yoga held their first annual silent auction. The Tea Party & Silent Auction was a huge success, raising over $6,000. Street Yoga accomplished their goal of raising funds to support yoga community outreach and had a good time too.
Street Yoga is a non-profit organization based out in Seattle, Wash. Street Yoga provides programs that build capacity in youth through yoga and mindfulness to overcome suffering and cope with trauma.
Street Yoga accomplishes their mission in two ways:
- Offering trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness classes at organizations that serve youth who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and
- Equipping professionals who work with youth with trauma-sensitive tools for integrating yoga and mindfulness into their work.
Many local businesses, including Northwest Yoga Conference, Waterways Cruises and Banya 5, donated highly coveted auction items including a sunset dinner cruise, spa passes and much more. The highest bid were Disney Theme Park tickets at $500!
Local eateries like Sand Point Grill and Mighty-O Donuts provided treats. Remedy Teas shared their wonderful space and staff to host the benefit. Street Yoga is honored to collaborate with Remedy Teas to create Balasana Bliss, a custom-blend loose leaf tea created in honor of the event. Balasana Bliss will soon be available for purchase at Street Yoga’s online store.
The yoga community, board members, family and friends showed up to support Street Yoga and our mission to bring the benefits of yoga to youth who have experienced trauma. A big thank you to our donors and everyone who attended and donated to the Tea Party.
