Maria and Julia have over 25 years of combined teaching experience and feel honored to share their knowledge with you. Accompanying them will be Chiara Guerrieri, a pillar of the yoga community and anatomy and physiology extraordinaire.

About the instructors:

Maria Williquette Yoga Seattle

Maria Williquette

Maria Williquette is a yoga teacher and psychotherapist who recently relocated to Portland from Seattle. She has been teaching yoga with an emphasis on using yoga therapeutically for 10 years and she frequently teaches workshops and retreats about using yoga as a tool for healing.

Although more days than not Maria can be found practicing and teaching yoga, she is also an avid gardener, reader, hiker, and world traveler. While traveling, Maria has studied yoga in places as diverse as Argentina, South Africa, India, and Nepal. She has completed two 200 hr yoga teacher trainings and is about to graduate with her 500 hour teacher training certificate. Maria holds a Master’s Degree in counseling psychology and has a private practice in Portland for counseling and coaching clients. It is Maria’s passion to combine the wisdom of yoga with the study of psychology to create a therapeutic and deeply healing yoga practice.

As a teacher, Maria embodies depth and connection; joy and creativity. She will certainly arrive to class with a smile and she delights in connecting with every student who attends class with her. Both on and off the mat, Maria looks to each moment of each day for opportunities to learn and to practice gratitude.

Off the mat, Julia is an artist, photographer, and activist. She enjoys poetry, tarot cards, and creating altars everywhere she goes.

Chiara Guerrieri Yoga Teacher Seattle
Chiara Guerrieri

Anatomy and Physiology

Chiara practices and teaches yoga as a way to work with the perception that body and mind are separate. She teaches how to connect the breath with the body, how to track physical sensation moment to moment and how to find an internal wisdom that guides movement and choices for well-being. She has been teaching yoga since 1996 and practicing massage therapy since 1983.

Chiara has studied a wide-range of bodymind disciplines – NonViolent Communication, SoMat, Meditation, Hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programing and Massage – mastering the material deeply enough to provide instruction in each of these areas. Teaching itself is one of her greatest joys. A long-time mover and shaker, Chiara’s passion for movement forms has enriched her life with dance, yoga and daily walks in nature. She loves gardening, foreign travel, everything that smells good, warm-oil foot massages, flowers on the table and foods that both tastes and feels good in the body.

Currently, Chiara teaches weekly classes and frequent workshops, as well as Anatomy, Physiology and Communication for 200- and 500 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings. She has added NonViolent Communication to many of her recent yoga-related offerings and is excited to be introducing the SoMat – both the tool and the technique – to the Seattle area. Chiara also hosts retreats in several mind/body modalities in inspiring locations around the world.
