8 Limbs Yoga Centers has a decades-long relationship to Breitenbush Hotsprings in Detroit, Oregon. We’ve held retreats at its very special home in the old-growth Cascades of Oregon since 1999. More than a dozen of our Teacher Trainings were held in the supportive embrace of Breitenbush.

Just after reopening for the first time since Covid, the Beach Creek and Lionshead fires tore through the Breitenbush area, burning all of the guest cabins, the Sanctuary, Breitenbush river footbridge, and surrounding residences.

We hope to raise at least $5,000 for Breitenbush to show our deep gratitude and love for the place, and the people who make it possible. The full amount of funds raised will go directly to the fund Breitenbush has created.

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

*Class Descriptions:
EDGU: evolutionary spinal maintenance is a mindful movement system that balances the brain while serving the spine to have greater flexible and strength. Through a series of gyrating movements in a grounded stance, the vertebra move through their range of motion increasing neurological flow and optimizing communication from brain to body and back. EDGU’s movements are linked to life affirming story telling that connects all the dots resulting in a “wholly” experience.

INU: evolutionary energy maintenance is a synthesis of dynamic movement, powerful breathing and authentic expression that result in a potent experience of this human life. Imbalance is at the root of all dis-ease and INU synchs up our breath, movement and mind to clear away stagnant energy and restore flow to all the systems in the body.

About the instructors: Anne Phyfe Palmer, Melina Meza, Chiara Guerrieri, and Jenny Hayo

Anne Phyfe Palmer Yoga Seattle

What to expect in Anne Phyfe’s classes: Anne Phyfe’s focus in teaching is to find both energy and calm through these ancient practices. Her classes are both strong and reflective, and usually involve a theme or intention in practice. Anne Phyfe has just returned to teaching drop-in classes after a sabbatical. View her teaching schedule at www.annephyfe.com/yoga. Listen to her audio class Awaken Fierce Compassion recorded by Yoga International.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Anne Phyfe currently studies in the Tantric tradition of The Himalayan Institute. Her teachers are Rod Stryker and Shari Friedrichsen. She has also been heavily influenced by the following teachers: Gary Kraftsow, Sarah Powers, Tias Little, Ana Forrest, and her very first yoga teacher, Kathleen Hunt.

Melina Meza

Melina has been exploring the art and science of yoga and nutrition for over 20 years. She combines her knowledge of Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, whole foods nutrition, and healthy lifestyle promotion into a unique style called Seasonal Vinyasa. Melina’s Seasonal Vinyasa Yoga classes emphasize the teachings of the yogis—that there is no separation between humans and nature, and we are all one. In addition to asana practice, her classes include insights on physical health and nutrition as well as how to inspire self-knowledge that allows for the conscious adjustment of day-to-day choices.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Seasonal Vinyasa Yoga & Ayurveda, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Scott Blossom, Sarah Powers, Gary Kraftsow, Jin Sung, Kathleen Hunt.

Chiara Guerrieri Yoga Teacher Seattle

What to expect in Chiara’s Classes: Chiara teaches us how to connect with the body through the breath, how to track physical sensation moment to moment and how to find an internal sense that guides movement and choices for wellbeing. In both her SoulMat & Hatha yoga classes, expect to go slowly, to pay attention to your body and breath, and to explore alignment. An important aspect of Chiara’s teaching is to help students learn when – and from where – to stabilize or mobilize. Expect the wisdom of a 30-year teaching career, plus a good dose of humor, to infuse each class.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: SoulMat with Patrizia Gavoni, Hatha Yoga with Bob Smith, Forrest Yoga with Ana Forrest, Shari Fredrickson, ParaYoga with Rod Stryker, and dance from around the world.

Jenny Hayo

Jenny Hayo has taught in the healing arts for over 20 years as a teacher of awareness-centered practices and the awakened consciousness. She began studying the Yoga Sutras with her teacher, Jo Leffingwell, in 2001. As an interdisciplinary teacher, Jenny’s work synthesizes over two decades of classical yoga study, Hatha Yoga, Buddhism and modern mind/body therapies, including The Hakomi Method and IFS (Internal Family Systems). She teaches workshops and retreats throughout the year and maintains a spiritual counseling practice rooted in the wisdom presented in the Yoga Sutras.  Jenny is known for her clear and direct teaching style that meets students wherever they are on the path of their own Self-discovery.
