About the instructor: Leslie Robbins

leslie robbins

I first started doing yoga in 2001 out of sheer curiosity.  I didn’t really expect I would like it, since I thought staying in shape was all about hard work and sweat.  I was immediately surprised by not only how physically challenging yoga is, but how the tranquil the mind and body feels long after a class is over.  The more I practiced, the more intrigued I became with yoga, and I made it my mission to understand what was happening energetically and psychically.  A week-long blissful yoga retreat in 2004 convinced me that yoga was my passion and my path.  Four months later, I followed my retreat teacher to Phoenix, AZ and began my 200 hour yoga teacher training at her Anusara yoga studio.

After teaching regularly for about 4 years, I started my additional 300 hours of training at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle.  The depth of knowledge and experience that I gained from that training program has enhanced my experience of the more subtle aspects of yoga, such as bandhas, pranayama and meditation.  The 500 hours of training was with highly experienced and skilled instructors who enabled me to find my unique qualities as a yoga teacher.

I love teaching to all types of students, from uncertain beginners to intermediate students seeking a vigorous practice.  My teaching style is a blend of my two favorite styles of yoga – Vinyasa and Anusara.  As a teacher, my goals are for the students to be safe and free of injury in my class, to be both physically challenged and mentally equanimous, to have fun, and to leave the class feeling a sense of tranquility and lightness which remains with them throughout the day.
